My experience with these websites has been daunting at best. My personal grievance against them, is that they don't appear to actually read the resumes I have sent out. I have sent out countless resumes and applications to agencies, companies and networks for one type of specific job, that I am exceptionally good at, but it appears that they just go right ahead and contact me for whatever job they feel like contacting me for, regardless of the fact that its 10 million light years away and not even close to my skills.I cant tell you how many times I have chosen the option of "10 miles distance" on that useless drop down menu and my job genre of choice, only to have them call me 20 times a day for nuclear scientists in Texas, sales executives in Kentucky and high tech supervisory jobs in Alaska(I live in Massachusetts and I promise I never applied for these jobs. After a certain company called me several times a day for several weeks, I finally gave them the riot act. I said to the fifth different caller that week, Look, do you guys even read these resumes?"
I still continued to receive them and actually had to call monster(the website) to complain. It finally stopped.
now I know that domestic services, sounds a lot like nuclear scientist and executive sale rep, but hey, who am I? All I wanted to do was find a family in need of domestic services in Massachusetts, with no travel specified, and I got every sales position in Ohio, Georgia and Florida with mandatory travel. So they not only can't read, but they also failed in Geography. Oh and monster has little value for non office jobs it appears. Unless you want to work in a cubicle or carry a briefcase, monster most likely tosses your resume directly into the circular file. This was just my 2 year experience. In the end I learned that smaller, domestic focused websites were the way to go and I have been successful there. thanks for reading my rant. Have a great day.
